Bandcamp is seeking a talented person with a hybrid analytics-engineering skillset. You will join our small (yet growing!) data team to analyze and research how artists use Bandcamp to connect with, and be directly supported by, their fans.

Bandcamp is an online record store and music community where passionate fans discover, connect with, and directly support the artists they love. We believe that music is an indispensable part of culture, and for that culture to thrive, artists—no matter their identity, community, or genre—must be compensated fairly and transparently for their work.

You will:

  • Perform ad hoc analyses of importance to the business, including collaboration with leadership or product teams to define and refine requirements.
  • Conduct research projects on the nature of artists and labels, users, and the Bandcamp marketplace. Present and publicize the findings across Bandcamp to add depth to our collective understanding of the business.
  • Identify issues in our data and address them using data transformation tooling to enhance our capacity to perform ad hoc analyses.
  • Conceptualize and implement SQL transformations that integrate numerous datasets and can serve as sources of truth to answer an array of business questions.

You have:

  • Conceptualized and conducted research projects from start to finish which have influenced business strategy.
  • Experience with querying (SQL), code-centered analysis (R or Python), and making data transformations using ELT/ETL tooling (e.g. dbt, Airflow, etc).
  • Experience developing and refining measurement frameworks and statistical models, including cohort/segmentation analysis, acquisition, churn, and CLV.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience working across teams, preferably in an e-commerce company.
